Meet Mark

I was born and lived in Lynn, Massachusetts until the age of seven. We then moved to Cape Cod and I have resided here ever since. I attended Cape schools thru high school. Once in college, I majored in mechanical engineering. Mark Grant Quality Construction Company

In the summer after my sophomore year, I framed houses for a Cape contractor. I worked full-time with his crew in the summers and part-time for the next two years until I graduated. We framed private homes and light commercial buildings. It was exciting to mix my mechanical engineering degree with practical work experience. We framed an average of 45 homes a year. By the age of 24, I had framed approximately 120 projects.

I left the framing job to work for a local general contractor who was hands-on from beginning to end. He kept all of the carpentry work in house, from the framing stage all the way through to the last finishing touches. I worked on all aspects of carpentry involved in completing a home after it was framed, installing decks, hardwood floors, underlayment, trimming out windows, installing interior doors, baseboards, custom built-ins, finishing stairs, and installing kitchen cabinets. The experienced crew showed me the fine details crucial to finishing a well-built home. A strong emphasis was put on doing it right the first time.

We completed 22 projects in two years: 20 new homes and 2 additions.

You can see some of our recently completed projects here.

I moved on to become a foreman, working on a couple of large projects right off the bat. This company contracted some light commercial buildings and large custom homes. I stayed with this company for a little over a year, but the job locations became too distant from my home in E. Dennis. Fortunately, a local contractor hired me to be his foreman. I worked for him for just over a year and oversaw residential jobs for new homes and remodeling. Over the combined two years working for these two contractors, we completed 16 projects.

Eventually, I moved on to be the foreman for a general contractor known for doing high-end work. We built custom homes and additions from start to finish. I worked on a variety of houses, each of them unique. I also had the opportunity to work with different architects. My passion for the trade, focused not only on being productive but also on maintaining high-quality craftsmanship and keeping the job clean and tidy. I stayed with this company for five years. We averaged 8 projects a year, totaling approximately 40 projects. During this time, I prepared to take the state test for a construction supervisor’s license by taking night classes. I passed with no restrictions, permitting me to do commercial and residential work.

Mark Grant and His Family Quality Construction Company   In 1995, I started my own business as a subcontractor, framing homes and additions, remodeling, as well as finish work for other contractors. In between these jobs, I got some of my own jobs, rebuilding decks, replacing siding, re-roofing, general home repair, and continued to be a subcontractor doing framing and finish work.

As I got busier with my own jobs, I stopped being a subcontractor. We kept all of the carpentry work in house and still practice this today. Quality workmanship is important to me. I take pride in what we do and ensure that my crew does it right the first time, as well as my subcontractors. This is one of the many reasons my business has been so respected over the years. Quality Construction has thrived for 15 years, averaging 10 jobs a year. If my earlier projects are included, I have more than 350 projects under my belt and 28 years of experience.

When you find a career you love, it is rewarding. I want every project to be outstanding. My customers are always happy. My standards are high and my crew knows it. Every job, no matter how big or small, is important to me. You can count on Quality Construction to make your home a paradise.

"My wife and I decided we would like to add a room and a two car garage to our house. We called Mark and he came over, gave us an estimate and drew plans. We were in Florida for most of the project but when we returned we were very pleased with the addition. My wife and I recommend him highly!" - Jay and Shirley
